Three years ago, Taylor started jiu jitsu training with Sensei David. The training has given Taylor the opportunity to develop her self-confidence, agility and coordination skills. Shortly after, our youngest daughter joined as well. Since the studio closed, the girls have continued training with Sensei David outdoors at Lafayette Park. These sessions teach them about patience, focus and dedication. They work hard while having fun - the ultimate result is staying active with a healthy mindset.
Brooklyn's personal testimony
"It can take a long time to practie doing the things Sensei teaches you, but I think it is very fun. When you meet my Sensei, you will probably like him. He is very nice. When you learn karate it is a good exercise for your body. You should do at least 30 minutes a week and that will get your heart pumping."
My son has been taking lessons from Sensei David for a few months. I started to bring him to Karate One when I realized that as adoring parents living in wonderful SF, our kids don't understand discipline. And I don't mean discipline in the sense of punishment, but rather commitment. My son certainly gets a sense of that here. Learning to take the task at hand seriously and working hard to get it done. Yet, at the end, kids get to play dodgeball and laugh and have fun. We love Sensei Davidand my son has both respect and adoration for him. What is even better is that all classes for kids are drop-in, so you can come once of 4 times a week.

Best birthday party ever! My son goes to class at K-One every week and loves it. Sensei David teaches them martial arts in a fun, respectful and engaging way. My girls also did the class when they were younger and It empowered them and boosted their self-esteem. When my son turned 6 we had a birthday party at K-one and it was a blast for kids and parents! I still get comments about how fun it was. Sensei David did a super fun class and the kids got to break wood, very cool.
I highly recommend the kids martial arts class and their birthday parties. LOVE this place.

My 9 year old son has been training at K-One Fitness for 6 years. The training has given him confidence, flexibility and discipline. I have trained in martial arts for years and when I moved to SF I looked all over the city for a dojo where we could train. The culture at K1 is the best. The kids are pushed but they have a great time learning. They build self-confidence in their bodies and their abilities. I have watched many boys and girls go from nervous toddlers on the training floor to getting ready to test for their black belts. I can't wait until my 18 month daughter is old enough to start the pee wee kids class. And the adult classes are great too. The sparring class is a great workout!

Sensei does kick ass kids birthday parties! My son takes karate classes at K-One and we can't say enough great things about Sensei David. His teaching method with kids of all ages is excellent. He incorporates fun into discipline and technique like no other kids teacher I have seen.
Recently we decided to have our son's 7th birthday party there and we were not disappointed. Sensei taught a 45+ minute super fun class including a silly warm up where he had them on the floor stretching and barking like seals. He had the kids learning all kinds of kicks and punches, running and jumping, and even breaking wood with their hands and feet. They also played dodgeball.
He provided large tables for us so we could have our own food and drinks brought in. David is great with kids of all ages and was extremely accommodating. I would definitely have another party there and highly recommend it to anyone even if your kid doesn't take karate.
Thanks Sensei!
